As one of the largest ground handlers in Europe, Miki Travel offers the travel industry an unrivalled service. Miki was established in 1967 to operate Japanese tours to Europe. With the experience gained from this extremely demanding market, Miki has been able to expand successfully to handle tours from all over the world.
The Objective
Miki required a business to business website solution that would provide
their clients with up to the minute marketing information and deliver
their existing hotel enquiry and booking facilities via the Internet.
The Solution
Morpheus worked in partnership with Miki to re-brand the existing website,
and develop a dynamic hotel booking application. Agents can now create
tours over the Internet and the intuitive interface presents each agent
with their correct hotel allocation, rates and applicable discounts.
Java servlets, running under the IBM WebSphere Application Server, were used to interact with these back-end programmes, query Miki's database and handle the various XML requests and responses.
Over the past two years, the average growth in sales online has been almost 340%. Return on investment is approximately 100 times what was paid for the solution in 1999, when it was launched.
