Bertram Books
The Client
Bertram Books is the UK's largest book wholesaler, stocking approximately
250,000 English language titles. Bertrams supplies all retail book outlets,
from high street bookstores to Internet suppliers such as Amazon and
BOL.com. Bertram Books Ltd. is a privately held company in Norwich,
U.K., with annual revenues of more than £100 million.
The Objective
Bertrams wanted to incorporate Internet technologies into its strategies
in order to reduce costs and gain a new customer base. It required a
system that would enable its clients to check the status of inventory
and orders online.
The Solution
Morpheus worked with Bertrams to develop an application that enables its
retail customers to send orders directly to its central business machine
via the Internet. For ordering via the Internet, XML orders are posted
to a web server and Bertrams order processing system generates an immediate
response.
Additionally, the web site allows customers around the world to check
stock availability and the status of orders. In conjunction with XML,
the use of web development tools integrated within the IBM iSeries platform,
coupled with the use of Java technologies, enable Bertrams to maximize
their existing IT investment whilst taking advantage of the latest Internet
technologies.
"What’s been good about working
with Morpheus is that you can speak directly with knowledgeable people,
who provide a reliable service."
