“At Puma, we always look to build our internal skills in-house and Morpheus have been excellent at understanding this and working with us in a real partnership to ensure an effective skills transfer takes place.” — IT Manager, Puma UK
The Objective
Since Morpheus provided training in 2000 to Puma in the use of the IBM iSeries web development tools, Puma have developed a sophisticated system known as 'Puma Village'. The application enables their network of football clubs to enquire about stock levels and order supplies, all via the web.
Puma UK were keen to re-engineer their in-house ‘Puma Village’ web application to adopt WebSphere based technology.
The Solution
Puma wanted to build on the functionality already existing within Puma Village and felt that the development tools used, such as IBM Net.Data, although giving them a good understanding of the web environment, would not allow them to extend and grow Puma Village as they required.
The Result
Puma asked Morpheus for advice as to how java technologies could be used to make the Puma Village application more scaleable and versatile. Puma also place a great emphasis on keeping their internal skills up to date with current technology and were keen to become skilled in the WebSphere platform and open architecture of Java.
Puma Village has been re-deployed onto the IBM WebSphere platform, with the WebSphere Application Server Advanced Edition software and WebSphere Application Developer licenses being provided by Morpheus.
Puma then worked with Morpheus' onsite technical architects who helped create their new J2EE environment and provided mentoring and support.
