The Client
Hydro Aluminium Extrusion is part of Norsk Hydro ASA, Norway’s largest publicly quoted company. Based in Wales, Hydro Aluminium Extrusion manufactures a diverse range of products for various industries - from construction and automotive to bathroom fittings.

The Objective
Hydro wanted to transform its static website into a new and dynamic customer interface, as part of its strategic vision to create and maintain innovative solutions for customers. The company regards its computer infrastructure as fundamental to business success and is an early adopter of web-based solutions.

The Solution
Morpheus worked with Hydro to revamp the web site and develop the online application, which enables customers to place orders and view the progress of their orders in real time. The solution replaces their existing green screen, dial-in system, which gave customers access to their files on Hydro's in-house system, with a web-based customer order and enquiry solution.

The interactive enquiry system takes advantage of the IBM iSeries’ integrated web functionality provided by IBM's Net.Data. No middleware layer is required. As a result, the development cycle is remarkably rapid.

Further development has seen this application extended to deliver a secure, fully automated, online ordering service to customers.
